About WEB Proxies for Telegram
WEB proxy is a newer proxy type introduced by the Telegram team, built as an evolution of a standard MTProto proxy rather than a separate protocol layered in front of it. The underlying connection still uses regular MTProto framing and encryption; what changes is how that traffic reaches the server. Instead of connecting to an MTProto server directly, the Telegram client wraps the same MTProto traffic so that it looks like an ordinary HTTPS website visit, adding a layer of disguise on top of MTProto itself.
This extra layer of disguise can help when direct MTProto connections are detected, filtered, or disrupted by network restrictions. Because a WEB proxy currently requires a Telegram client version that supports this connection type, it is best thought of as an advanced, newer form of MTProto proxy rather than a universally available drop-in replacement.
Free WEB Proxy List for Telegram
Our free WEB proxy list is intended for users looking for publicly available proxy endpoints that can be used as an additional layer alongside Telegram MTProto connectivity.
WEB proxy endpoints may differ significantly in availability, latency, bandwidth, and configuration. Because public proxies can become overloaded, blocked, or unavailable without notice, users may need to switch between several working endpoints.
The proxy list is updated live, so proxy availability and connection status may change in real time.
How a WEB Proxy Works with MTProto
A WEB proxy server presents itself as an ordinary HTTPS website. The Telegram client carries its normal MTProto traffic inside this web-facing connection instead of opening a connection that is more easily recognized as proxy traffic. On the server side, this disguised traffic is unwrapped and passed on to a standard MTProto server, so the MTProto connection and encryption underneath stay the same as a regular MTProto proxy; only the outer transport differs.
This can make WEB proxy traffic harder to tell apart from ordinary website visits, which may help in networks that specifically detect and filter MTProto-style traffic patterns. The exact behavior depends on how the WEB proxy server is configured and which Telegram client is used.
The primary purpose of this setup is connectivity and resistance to network interference. It should not automatically be considered an anonymity or privacy service. Operators of public proxy infrastructure are third parties, so users should consider the source and trustworthiness of any endpoint before using it.
How to Connect Telegram Through a WEB Proxy
WEB proxy links use their own format, starting with t.me/webproxy rather than the t.me/proxy links used for standard MTProto proxies, and they use a hostname and a secret rather than the server address, port, and secret used for MTProto proxies. Opening a WEB proxy link in a Telegram client that supports this connection type should configure and enable the proxy automatically.
Where manual setup is available, select WEB as the proxy type and enter the hostname and secret provided with the proxy list. WEB proxy currently requires a recent Telegram client version that supports this connection type; older or unsupported clients cannot use it.
Once connected, Telegram can use the WEB proxy in the same way it would use a standard MTProto proxy, and it can normally be disabled or switched to another endpoint at any time.
Why Use a Telegram WEB Proxy?
There are several reasons to use a WEB proxy together with MTProto. The additional layer may help when standard MTProto traffic is subject to traffic filtering, protocol detection, throttling, or other forms of network interference.
A WEB proxy can also provide an alternative routing method when a direct MTProto connection is unstable or unavailable. In restrictive networks, adding an intermediary layer may improve the chances of maintaining a usable Telegram connection.
However, no proxy method can guarantee access under every network condition. Performance depends on the individual endpoint, the underlying MTProto server, network routing, and the filtering mechanisms used by the local network.
Choosing a WEB Proxy
When selecting a WEB proxy, consider whether the endpoint is currently reachable, how stable the Telegram connection remains after enabling it, and whether latency is acceptable for everyday use.
Public WEB proxies can change status without notice. Servers may go offline, become overloaded, change their configuration, or be blocked by network operators. Keeping multiple working endpoints available makes it easier to switch when a particular proxy stops responding.
Users should also remember that a proxy operator is a third party. Avoid entering sensitive information into unofficial websites that claim to configure, validate, or manage proxy access, and use caution when following links associated with unknown proxy providers.
